Katherine Zhang AIFD Wins CSFA’s Top Ten Competition

The 2007 California State Floral Association (CSFA) Top Ten Winner is Katherine Zhang AIFD from Flower House in Millbrae, California.  Marisa Perring AIFD, Empora Floral Artistry, Fullerton, took second place and the People’s Choice Award.  The third place winner is Leanne Law, Calla Lily, Castro Valley, CA.  The following designers were among the Top Ten finalists:  Nona Tai, Floral Design Studio, Fremont;  Benjamin Lee, Edelweiss Flower Boutique, Santa Monica;  Amanda Rounds, Shell Beach Floral Design, Shell Beach;   Michelle Taite, Costa Mesa Florist, Costa Mesa; Guillermo ‘Wil’ Gonzalez, Jr., Rainforest Fantasy, Ukiah;  Dominique Fiori, Kaleidoscope Florist, Santa Barbara;  and Sandy Lesnewsky, Mission College, Santa Clara.  The Competition consisted of a timed design competition on stage.  Each designer constructed a Designer’s Choice, a floral arrangement of their choice which they had previously conceived and worked on, and a surprise package in which each contestant (given identical materials) spontaneously designed arrangements adhering to a theme.  Marilee Just AIFD, San Marcos Florist, was the Top Ten Commentator.  Katherine Zhang was sponsored by the Master Florists Association.  Katherine will represent CSFA in the Society of American Florists Sylvia Cup Competition in 2008.  The Top Ten Competition was sponsored by Teleflora.  Congratulations to Katherine and all the Top Ten Contestants!
